Himalayan Salt Lamp Care & Safety Instructions

Salt lamps are beautiful to look at while they clean the air in your home and may provide some beneficial health effects.

However, there are a few Himalayan salt lamp warnings to be aware of, and precautions to take, if you have one in your home to make sure they are safe and properly cared for.

Himalayan Salt Lamp Care:

    • Wipe with a clean, dry cloth every few weeks to remove dust
    • Check cord regularly for any damage or erosion, and if you have pets that chew
    • Keep out of reach of pets: while salt lamps are edible for humans, too much salt can be dangerous for animals
    • Light bulbs should never be touching the inside of the lamp: This can lead to moisture dripping onto the light fitting and potentially shorting out the wiring
    • Make sure you use the right kind of light bulb: 15 watts for small, medium, and shaped lamps, and 25 watts for all other larger sizes
    • Position your lamp on a sturdy surface and well out of the reach of children
    • For best results, leave lamp on for several hours each day to prevent sweating and maintain their air purifying effect
